Preparing for University: Self-Guided Learning Materials for Sixth-Form Students

The materials on this page have been designed for independent study by students in Y12 and Y13.  They are based on our undergraduate curriculum at King’s but have been adapted for pre-university learners. The materials will be useful for Y13 students seeking to prepare themselves to study History at university, for Y12 students interested in getting a sense of what university-level study in History is like, or indeed for anybody seeking a stimulating and structured introduction to the topics covered.

Each topic is introduced through a PowerPoint presentation with audio commentary (via YouTube). This is accompanied by a worksheet that highlights key terms and concepts, offers questions for thinking and writing, and suggests a range of further reading and online research activities.

Presented by Professor Adam Sutcliffe, Professor of European History and Co-Director of the Centre for Enlightenment Studies
