History is one of the largest departments within the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, with expertise across most historical disciplines as well as well-established connections to historians and scholars based throughout the university.

Within the Department many different approaches to history are represented, including political, economic, gender, cultural and global history, the history of science and medicine and the history of political thought.

  • Modern history, including the history of Europe, the Middle East, India, China, Africa, Latin America, the Caribbean and the United States

  • The history of science, technology and medicine
