How to... Figure out what's next

In this session, we hear from career coach Alex Dewar (Philosophy, Politics & Economics, 2020). We talk about how to better understand your strengths and interests, translate these interests into practical goals, and build your confidence and readiness to make the leap into your next career step.

About our speaker: Alex Dewar (Philosophy, Politics & Economics, 2020)

Alex is a career coach and the founder of Your Best Self, a coaching company that provides guidance tailored towards people early in their careers.

Alex notes how difficult it can be to navigate the early stages of your career in a world with seemingly infinite, and ever-growing options, and how pressures of modern life can make it all too easy to feel behind. Alex’s work focusses on empowering individuals to cut through the noise, determine the right choices for them, and gain the confidence to make their next steps and build career momentum.

In this session, Alex shares some of her top tips for navigating the earliest stages of your career, helping attendees identify clear goals and next steps. Alex will also discuss how to gain a better understanding of what you truly want from your career, through critical reflection and honest discussions.
