Our ‘Making History’ issue of InTouch Online magazine is out now
Looking for some autumn or winter reading? InTouch Online has released its ‘Making History’ issue, which you can read here.
In this issue, we delve into the depths of King’s Archives and uncover just some of the surprising secrets and rare finds that lie within – including a 1930s English-Swahili phrasebook, and the records of over 800 British military personnel.
Speaking of history, this year marks the 100th birthday of King’s mighty mascot, Reggie the Lion! To celebrate the centenary of our oldest and boldest friend, we’ve compiled a timeline of Reggie’s wildest adventures on our campus.
We’re also excited to feature exclusive interviews with just some of the outstanding alumni who are making history across our King’s community and beyond. Highlights include Dr Vickki Harmer AKC (Nursing, 1997; Doctorate in Healthcare, 2015), Consultant Nurse and breast cancer awareness advocate, and Jane Conway MA (Life Writing, 2003), who is using her degree to amplify the voices of Afghan women.
In our latest collection of Class Notes, we feature entrepreneur Nicola (Nikki) Garg who co-founded a planet-friendly milk product amidst the pandemic, and Fabiana Parker, winner of the 2022 Virginia Teacher of the Year Award, whose teaching talents led her all the way to the White House. In our ‘Leadership Lessons’ segment, we meet Phill Burton (Philosophy, 2003) and CEO at Beams, a start-up company which aims to make house renovations more sustainable. Phill reflects on how his leadership style has evolved throughout his career.
