Joseph Fort is College Organist & Director of the Chapel Choir, and Lecturer in Music at King’s College London.

He studied at Harvard University (PhD: expected November 2015), the University of Cambridge (BA, MusB), and the Royal Academy of Music. During his time in Massachusetts, Joseph was Resident Conductor of the Harvard-Radcliffe Collegium Musicum, Director of Music at Grace Church, Newton, and Artistic Director of the Sine Nomine Choral Ensemble. At Cambridge he was Organ Scholar of Emmanuel College, and prior to that was Organ Scholar of All Saints Margaret Street. Conducting highlights of the past year included Bach’s St. John Passion, Howells’s Requiem, and Rachmaninoff’s All-Night Vigil. As an organist, Joseph has broadcast on UK and US radio. 

As a scholar, Joseph’s work focuses on dance-music relationships in Haydn’s minuets. He has given/will give conference papers at American Musicological Society’s annual meeting, the North American Conference on Nineteenth-Century Music, the Mozart Society of America and the Society for American Music. At Harvard, his teaching was recognised with the university’s Certificate of Distinction, the Certificate of Excellence, and the Oscar S. Schafer Prize. He served Harvard College as Senior Resident Tutor of Eliot House.
