King’s engineering and pedagogy

Educating the next generation of engineers is a primary mission for us. In our taught courses, we provide a sound foundation in engineering principles and science alongside developing a mindset of engineering thinking from inclusive design to ethics and communications.

We are looking to develop future engineers who develop solutions that work not only technically but work in the context of their users and their environment. Our academic program includes helping our students develop sustainable solutions.

Designing an online learning course for refugees with PADILIEA and FutureLearn

Professor Mischa Dohler and Professor Claire Lucas put together a 4 week MOOC (Massive Open Online Courses) titled the Principles of Engineering. The course covers an introduction to engineering, including design thinking, sustainable development, material design and selection, and communication technology. Through the Partnership for Digital Learning and Increased Access (PADILEIA) the course was made accessible to refugees and seeks to inspire a new generation of engineers globally.
