The Department of Engineering is growing.
We are building a community of engineering researchers at the heart of the Strand Campus.
We focus on both discovery research and applied research, leveraging the synergies between conventional engineering and leading-edge technologies to solve the problems of today and those we will face tomorrow. Our research supports global challenges and national prosperity, helping to make a better world and to improve people’s lives.
We work in partnership with our colleagues at King’s and other universities across the country and the world. Our collaborations are wide-ranging from arts and humanities, law, healthcare, social sciences as well as policy makers, cultural partners, and industry.
We bring a diversity of perspectives and a variety of skills together in six themes
- Communication & Information Engineering
- Design & Mechatronics
- Manufacturing, Materials & Systems
- Signals & Control
- Computational Engineering
- Data-Centric Engineering
These themes draw on our underlying expertise across engineering disciplines. Our themes allow us to take a systems approach to engineering challenges. They stimulate new directions for research and provide a focus for staff development. We support our research staff and PhD students in their career choice, whatever that may be.
