London partners

Our perfect location close to BFI Southbank (including the BFI Library), Southbank Centre, and Tate Modern means you will be studying in the heart of London with access to fantastic resources. Inaugurated in March 2009, the King’s BFI Southbank Key Scholars Series is a programming partnership with the BFI that presents a series of lectures by some of the world’s leading film scholars, which are followed by screenings. Past speakers include Richard Dyer, Dudley Andrew, Laura Mulvey and Thomas Elsaesser.

Members of the Department have also led a series of highly successful short courses on cinema, which have been open to the general public, as well as participating in the BFI’s philosophical screens discussion series. We are also within walking distance of the Curzon Soho, Picturehouse Central and Institute of Contemporary Arts. Faculty members have links with the LUX Gallery.

King’s College London is part of the University of London, and the Film Studies department has forged strong collaborative bonds with similar departments at other Colleges within the University, including UCL, Queen Mary University of London, SOAS and Goldsmiths. We have as a group supported symposia and doctoral training, as well as facilitating intercollegiate option course sharing for Masters students.
