Our alumni community plays a vital role in inspiring and supporting the next generation of King’s graduates. By volunteering your time and experience through King’s Edge, you can help current students and recent graduates build confidence, explore career opportunities and develop the skills they need to succeed. Whether you host an insight day or industry project, offer an internship, or share your career expertise; your contribution can make a real difference.
There are a wide range of opportunities for alumni to support programmes, faculties and departments across the university. Alumni are needed to share their expertise and professional experience through opportunities like career panels, guest talks, and conversations with students. Alumni can also contribute to advisory boards, providing valuable perspectives that support King’s to stay innovative and connected.

Masterclass
Masterclasses are small, interactive sessions where an experienced alum shares their expertise and insights with a group of 10-20 students. They are designed to offer students an authentic, high-quality opportunity to learn from leaders within the King’s community. This is ideal for alumni who could offer established insight that engages and upskills students.
Business Challenge
A Business Challenge consists of a short one-day challenge or a multi-week challenge that will provide students with a structured and immersive learning experience, combining skills-based development with practical application. Alumni partners will offer an authentic external brief, grounded in their professional, civic, social or industry context.
Business Trek
A Business Trek offers a group of King’s students the opportunity to visit a workplace and understand first-hand the environments, expectations and career pathways for a specific sector. Alumni partners will be able to host or arrange a visit within their organisation, providing an immersive and informative experience that boosts students’ professional awareness and provides authentic insight into the working world.

Who helped you get to where you are today? Perhaps you remember those who shared career insights, introduced you to new connections or simply helped you explore your options. By mentoring with King’s, you could help a student or recent graduate reach their potential too. From a one-off online chat to a six-month journey, you can make a real impact as a mentor whatever time you can spare.
The King’s Leadership Mentoring Programme hand-matches current students with leading alumni professionals for a six-month mentoring journey. As a mentor, you can help a student unlock their potential for their future career, gain industry insight and develop skills for the world of work.
Mentees in this programme are typically from underrepresented or disadvantaged backgrounds through Careers+, so while the commitment is more substantial, so too is the impact. The programme runs from December to May each year, with mentor registration from September.

Our Mentoring Meet-ups are one-off events held on campus and are a way to support a number of students to develop a specific skill around CVs, interviews and goal setting. It’s a great chance to get face-to-face interaction with student and recent graduate mentees, as well as an opportunity to return to campus and network with fellow alumni.
