The ethos of King’s College London is to try to make a better world, putting the needs of others first – beyond what might be expected of a university. Our students are at the forefront. The portraits that you can see in the Council Room at the Strand Campus represent just a few of the countless students who embody King’s commitment to societal impact.

  • Reem AlHakim

    Reem AlHakim

    Clinical Dentistry BDS

    Reem was the Co-President of KCL Smile Society and the Student Iraqi Medical
    Association. In these organisations she championed the need to bridge the gaps in
    student attainment. As a Smile Society volunteer she was also active in local communities,
    working to improve oral health and preventative dental care.

    Clinical Dentistry BDS

    Reem was the Co-President of KCL Smile Society and the Student Iraqi Medical
    Association. In these organisations she championed the need to bridge the gaps in
    student attainment. As a Smile Society volunteer she was also active in local communities,

    Sahed Ahmed

    Extended Medical Degree Programme

    As a beneficiary of the access programmes offered by King’s, Sahed later became an
    ambassador for King’s Widening Participation Scheme where he helped other young
    people and mature learners apply for university. He was also active in the Medical
    Students’ Association and the Bangladesh Society.

    ambassador for King’s Widening Participation Scheme where he helped other young

    Barbara’s interests lie in health education and policy. As an outreach officer for KCL
    African Caribbean Medical Society she encouraged young people to pursue careers in
    medicine and healthcare. Working with King’s Social Mobility team as a schools mentor
    she promoted positive and healthy choices to students from marginalised backgrounds.

    Manuel Martinez Chamorro

    Computer Science with Management

    As a member of King’s 20 Accelerator programme Manuel co-founded Privasee,
    a platform that helps small businesses understand data protection regulation.
    He served as President of King’s Entrepreneurs Society, helping students acquire
    the skills and providing a support network to see their projects through.

    Ehigie plans to specialise in cardiology and paediatrics. He is passionate about health in
    developing countries – so much so that he volunteered for charity healthcare programmes
    in Morocco, Peru and Tanzania. While continuing with his studies Ehigie also dedicates time
    to help prospective Black and Minority Ethnic students achieve their medical school aspirations.
