Lauren Blackwood (she/her) – Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Project Officer

Lauren

Hi! My name is Lauren and I have an academic background in Philosophy and Sociology where my work centred feminist, anti-racist and queer scholarship. I am one of three Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion Project Officers at KCL. I work with the Faculty of Dentistry, Oral & Craniofacial Sciences (FoDOCS) two days a week, and the other three days I support the Dignity at King’s project.

Navigating higher education as a black, queer, working-class, neurodiverse woman for five years has given me a great insight to the ways in which universities can be changed for the betterment of marginalised staff and students. I love hearing from and touching base with those whose experiences I work to improve, so please do not hesitate to get in touch whether it’s to pass on feedback or to have a general chat about intersectional feminism!

Jemma Adams (she/her) – Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Project Officer

Jemma

I am Jemma, one of the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Project Officers in the team. I work with the Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery & Palliative Care for two days a week helping them to develop their EDI Action Plan and providing support and advice. The rest of my time is spent on facilitating our EDI governance structure, developing the Inclusive Practice for Educators workshop, overseeing the King's Stellar HE cohort and developing the Religion and Belief policy. I have previously worked in the education sector, where I worked with schools and school leaders on a range of EDI and other projects.

My interest in matters of equality, diversity and inclusion started through engagement with feminist theology and theologies of sexuality and gender. This background and my personal journey to identifying as a post-Christian, spiritual, queer woman influences both my EDI work and how I navigate life more generally.
