Guidance and Resources

The Equality Act 2010 extended and enhanced the existing framework of equalities legislation making it more consistent.  It introduced the term 'protected characteristics' to represent the nine areas covered by the legislation:

  • Age
  • Disability
  • Gender reassignment
  • Marriage and civil partnership
  • Pregnancy and maternity
  • Race
  • Religion and belief
  • Sex
  • Sexual Orientaiton

On these pages you will be able to find out more about the Equality Act 2010 and how it applies to these nine protected characteristics, learn about any relevant College policies and activities that are occuring and locate further resources and useful links.

We have also included additional guidance such as the Accessible Events Guide to support King's staff and students in organising inclusive events. Please note that the guidance is focussed on what an event organiser should consider when organising an event at King’s and that King's Venues can provide information about the suitability of details such as location,  AV equipment and catering already. For specific queries/requirements please contact King’s Venues directly.
