Guidance and Support
These web pages bring together information about university policies, support and initiatives for staff and students who are parents.
Much of the information will also be useful to managers of staff who are about to embark on a period of leave (for maternity, paternity or adoption reasons) or who already have young children.
These pages will be updated an ongoing basis. Meanwhile, please continue to use the guidance and support described below.

Guidance for Students
The Maternity Leave Guidance (pdf, 623 KB) includes practical and essential information for line managers to support female staff that are pregnant, are on maternity leave, or are returning from maternity leave. The aim is to create a working environment and culture which supports these staff during this period.
The pregnant staff member is also advised to read the guidance so they can have clear expectations of their line manager.
The checklist at the end of the guidance acts as a useful summary and should be completed by the line manager in collaboration with the staff member.
This document should be read in conjunction with the Occupational Maternity Leave Scheme
The university has developed some practical tips in supporting student parents, this page also includes useful information and contacts.
The Family Association is a representative student group ran by elected students (most often parents and carers). They run events, campaigns and provide support for student parents at King's.
