Supporting Parents & Carers

It is important to the university that we have a working environment and culture that supports staff during their parenting and caring planning, leave, and return to work.

We recognise the importance of creating choice for individuals and families in how they look after dependants and have developed our benefits and resources with this in mind. We also seek to create greater gender equity in the workplace for those with caring responsibilities.

Diversity & Inclusion also supports parents and carers through two funding schemes to support parents and carers:

Parents' & Carers' Fund

The Parents’ & Carers’ Fund (PCF) is a positive action scheme for academic & research staff designed to mitigate the impact that career breaks might have on research portfolios and career progression.

Carers' Career Development Fund

The Carer’s Career Development Fund (CCDF) is a scheme designed to help parents and carers with the additional care costs incurred as a result of attending conferences or other important networking events, which fall outside of their normal working hours.
