Health and well-being
We encourage staff to maintain a healthy lifestyle, including both physical and mental well-being, and support staff by providing assistance in each of these areas.
King's runs an Employee Assistance Programme where staff can access independent, free, confidential advice and guidance on a range of practical issues, such as family matters, debt management, relationships, well-being, personal development, life events and more.
Staff have access to the King's College NHS Health Centre (a team of doctors, nurses, and other health workers who provide staff with a confidential health care service), and all KCL staff may register at the Health Centre as their GP regardless of where they live.
Staff have access to free eye tests (internal page), free dental treatment and there is support for staff who would like to stop smoking.
King's also provides discounted gym membership, access to sports facilities, clubs and societies and runs a cycle to work scheme enabling staff to make savings on the cost of a bike and safety equipment and runs free cycling events.
Further details of our health and well-being benefits are outlined as below. Existing staff should visit the internal pages for comprehensive information on all benefits.
There are many benefits of regular exercise. King's is keen to promote healthy lifestyles for all its staff. We operate:
In addition, staff can join the Thomas Guy Club which operates two fitness centres and an indoor swimming pool.
There are several King's Sport Community Clubs which cater for members of staff and alumni looking to take part in organised sport.
King's Sport staff can help take care of all your sporting needs, whether you're a first time participant, an elite performer or have a fitness level somewhere in between.
There is a 10% discount offered to all King's staff on social sport activities run by GoMammoth.co.uk, the UK's largest provider of indoor and outdoor sports leagues, social fitness classes and social events for adults.
Cycle to Work Scheme
If you have a disability, health condition or specific learning difficulty such as dyslexia, there is support available to you as a member of staff at King's. Our Human Resources People Partners (internal page) provide advice and can help. You are encouraged to let the university know about any specific needs that you may have, so that appropriate support or adjustments can be considered. All information will be handled sensitively and confidentially.
The cycle to work scheme allows staff to make substantial savings on the cost of a bicycle, safety equipment and accessories. All campuses and most sports grounds have facilities to secure your bicycles.
Employee Assistance Programme

This program also provides advice to managers with regards to their management role, for example, work-life balance, recognising and finding support for troubled staff, and discussing difficult subjects.
The King's College Health Centre provides a wide range of healthcare services for all King's staff who have registered at the Health Centre as their GP regardless of where they live.
