UK Dementia Research Institute at KCL

UK Dementia Research Institute

DRI infographic-finalThe UK Dementia Research Institute is powered by multidisciplinary dementia research, in programmes of work shaped and delivered through a team of directors, all working towards a common goal to invigorate the therapeutic pipeline. The institute is structured so that its researchers are connected, wherever their labs are based. Ideas, tools, technologies and research data flow between the teams. The five centres, selected in open competition, are located at: University of Cambridge, Cardiff University, University of Edinburgh, Imperial College London and King’s College London. The hub is UCL, where the national headquarters is also based.

The UK DRI hub and centres teams were selected because of their skills and complementary specialities. However our philosophy is integrative, opportunistic and flexible: capitalising upon any and all good ideas that will move us closer to our goal to tackle dementias. In time, priority themes will run across the institute to fill gaps and bring focus on promising areas.

The institute will build on and connect to the strong dementias research landscape that exists across the UK; charity, national and international partners are key to our mission. We will work with the biopharmaceutical, diagnostic and digital sectors in order to develop new therapeutics and tools to benefit people with dementia.
