Affiliate Accounts

If you work closely with, but are not directly employed by King’s, you may be eligible for an affiliate account, which will give you access to King’s systems and resources. 

To request an affiliate account, please ask your King's sponsor to submit a request via the ‘KCL Accounts’ form on the Helix self-service portal.

You can manage various affiliate account tasks using the ‘KCL Accounts’ online form available on the Helix self-service portal, and then selecting the "King’s Affiliate Account" service.

  • New Account: If a new account is required for an affiliated individual who needs a King’s email address, select “Brand New Affiliate Account”.
  • Renewal: If you already have an existing affiliate account and need to renew it, select “Renewal of an Existing Affiliate account”.
  • Conversion: If you currently have a Staff or Student account but are due to leave employment or finish your studies at King’s, yet will still be affiliated with King’s, select “Convert a Staff or Student account into an Affiliate account”.
  • Switching: If you have both a Staff/Student account and an affiliate account and would like to consolidate them into a single account, select “Switch Account Types and remove duplicate account”.

Additional Information:

  • When the affiliate account is approaching its expiry date, account holders will receive an email warning 30 days before expiration.
  • Professional Services affiliate accounts are typically valid for up to one year, while Teaching or Research accounts are valid for up to three years.
  • All KCL accounts must register for Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) within 30 days of creation and must be logged into every 90 days, otherwise they will be disabled.
