We run a busy annual programme made up of short-term trips and online components. This allows practicing UK professionals to contribute to global health work without disrupting their careers.
Volunteering with the Somaliland partnership can be hugely rewarding, and many of our volunteers have remained involved year after year.
Recently published research on our volunteers demonstrates what we have long known anecdotally to be true; our partnership is not a one-way street. Volunteers gain a range of skills – spanning communication, interdisciplinary working, teaching, management, leadership and service development – several of which are directly transferable to their NHS jobs.
Who We Look For
The majority of our volunteers are clinicians, academics a educators who donate their technical expertise to the partnership. While volunteers are predominantly from King's Health Partners institutions, we welcome expressions of interest from across the NHS, and other academic institutions. Opportunities currently exist for:
- Hospital Managers
- Lecturers and Clinical Teachers
- Medical and Nursing Students (UK based only)
- Public Health Professionals
