Advice for new ACFs and CLs

Overview of the IAT programme, delivered by Professor Frances Williams (KCATO Director and IAT Programme Lead), Dr Rina Dutta (KCATO Deputy Director and IAT Programme Co-Lead) and Dr James Galloway (IAT Research Methods Course Lead) at the IAT Induction/Introductory event for ACFs and CLs held on Monday 9th October 2023 at Guy's Campus:

The PG Certificate in Applied Research Methods for Integrated Academic Trainees

The PG Certificate in Applied Research Methods for Integrated Academic Trainees is an integral part of ACFs' academic skills development. It is therefore mandatory that all ACFs starting on the IAT programme enrol on this programme.

The aim of the programme is to increase trainees’ depth of knowledge, technical and transferable skills in an integrated manner to enhance their current and future roles in translational research and evidence-based health care as an independent and self critical learner.

The course comprises four modules:

  • Subject knowledge in Research and Clinical Practice
  • Project Development and Grant Writing Skills
  • Research Methods and Ethics
  • Statistical Methods and Techniques

Student status also entitles trainees to a King’s College London email address, which is necessary to access many of the resources available to IATs.

For enquiries regarding enrolment on the PG Cert, please contact IATadmin@kcl.ac.uk.

Attendance on the course is mandatory and dates are circulated to trainees well in advance of the course.
