Amundeep - 2nd year chemistry student
Chemistry plays a role in all aspects of our lives; from understanding how molecules in our bodies work, to the composition of planets. Medicines, light bulbs and the plethora of gadgets used in everyday life are a result of breakthroughs in chemistry.
The Department of Chemistry offers eight undergraduate degrees and our courses will provide you with a comprehensive theoretical and practical understanding of chemistry, preparing you for a professional life in the ever-changing environment of 21st century chemistry. To achieve these goals, our courses integrate the teaching of chemistry foundations with the application of chemistry principles and techniques using examples taken from the very broad range of chemical and biomedical research and practice at King’s.
The Department of Chemistry also provides a vibrant environment for postgraduate study and the department offers the postgraduate research programme Chemistry MPhil/PhD. The nature of the research in the Department of Chemistry is highly cross-disciplinary and making contacts and exchanging ideas form a core part of this approach to science. Research projects may be co-supervised by staff from different Research Divisions and Departments to support collaboration and application of chemical innovation especially in medicine and biology. Projects are offered in a number of areas.
