National Rail strikes during April 2024 - updated information

London Underground strikes planned for Monday 8 April and Saturday 4 May have since been cancelled.

Industrial action by transport unions are still due to take place on UK national rail between Thursday 4 April - Tuesday 9 April. Please check before you travel as your journey may be disrupted. 

Strike action on the National Rail network 

Industrial action is scheduled across the rail network between Friday 5 and Monday 8 April affecting different train companies on different days: 

  • Friday 5 April: Avanti West Coast, East Midlands Railway, West Midlands Trains, and CrossCountry 
  • Saturday 6 April: Chiltern, GWR, LNER, Northern, and TransPennine 
  • Monday 8 April: c2c, Greater Anglia, GTR Great Northern Thameslink, Southeastern, Southern/Gatwick Express, South Western Railway main line and depot drivers, and SWR Island Line. 
  • An overtime ban for train drivers across all companies will also be in place between Thursday 4 April - Saturday 6 April and Monday 8 April - Tuesday 9 April which may lead to further disruption.

 

The university will be open as usual, if you are unsure whether your journey will be affected, please use the  National Rail  website and TFL journey planner  before you travel.
