Could you pitch an idea in 90-seconds and win £200 to take it further?
Our legendary Open Pitch Night event invites you to take to the stage and pitch a bold solution to a problem you’re passionate about solving – in just 90 seconds!
How it works
- Up to 30 people pitch on the night – pitching slots are allocated on a first come first serve basis
- No slides required – just you and your idea!
- Pitching order is allocated at random
- A panel of judges and live audience will be there to cheer you on!
- 10 winners receive £200 to take their idea forward
- Fun, fast-paced and low pressure
If you need some help preparing to pitch, join our online 'Pitch Prep Workshop' in October (held one week before the Open Pitch Night), with our Communications Expert-in-Residence.
Why pitch?
- Share your idea with the world and get instant feedback
- Step out of your comfort zone, boost your confidence and problem solving skills
- Grow your network and meet other innovators (and maybe even your future co-founder!)
Whether your idea is just forming or ready to test, this is your chance to take it further.
The Open Pitch Night was the first time I entered a competition related to entrepreneurship. As someone from a medical background, pitching was something new to me. The competition gave me the confidence to use my unique skills to my advantage and put myself in new places of interest.

Prize money
There’s £200 available to test your idea, which could include:
- Doing market research
- Building a prototype
- Launching a campaign
- Recruiting test users and customers
As well as funding, winners will also access expert support to help you explore your next steps.
The £200 prize was a game-changer for QueryMinds. This funding allowed me to cover our AWS server costs, enabling us to build and host our first working prototype. The guidance and resources provided by the Entrepreneurship Institute have been invaluable.
Ubaid Tanzim, King's alumnus, MBBS Medicine, Faculty of Life Sciences & Medicine
The £200 funding played a pivotal role in helping my idea evolve and enhance my skillset as a solo founder. This financial support allowed me to take significant steps towards bringing my vision to life, particularly in EdTech innovation.
Dunia Mangal, King's alumna, Biomedical Science, Faculty of Life Sciences & Medicine
The Open Pitch Night is open to all King’s students, staff and alumni and will return in October 2025. If you don’t have an idea in mind, but want to watch some compelling pitches, come along to support!

To win, judges will be looking for:
1. A clearly defined problem
