Team

Our approach is shaped by a co-production ethos reflecting the diversity and needs of IoPPN. We have over 100 staff and students involved in IoPPN’s Culture, Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (CEDI) work. 

The CEDI Core Team sets the strategic direction, supported by our CEDI Committee. Our Goal Champions drive change in specific areas supported by Task and Finish Groups. Our Networks are developed in response to specific issues identified by staff and students.

CEDI Core Team

The CEDI Core Team includes the Vice-Dean (Culture, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion), three School CEDI Academic Leads and two dedicated staff members. Together, they lead the strategic CEDI agenda at IoPPN, with the support of our Goal Champions, Task and Finish Groups and Networks. 

Professor Stephani Hatch (Sociology and Epidemiology) - Vice-Dean (Culture, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion)

Stephani applies her inequality research knowledge and public engagement experience to ensuring IoPPN’s D&I work is applied through an intersectional lens to benefit IoPPN’s diverse community. Stephani has been active in D&I leadership at KCL since 2014 and co-led IoPPN's 2019 Athena SWAN application.

Zoe Kennedy - Culture, Diversity and Inclusion Lead

Zoe works focuses on implementing, supporting and enabling faculty-wide and local initiatives and activities that support an equitable, inclusive and diverse learning and working environment. Zoe co-led IoPPN's 2019 Athena SWAN application and is responsible for the implementation of IoPPN’s faculty-wide CEDI Action Plan and embedding CEDI in IoPPN's strategic priorities.

Dr Juliana Onwumere - CEDI Academic Lead School of Mental Health and Psychological Sciences

Juliana is a Reader and Consultant Clinical Psychologist whose research focuses on the intersectionality of mental health problems, family relationships and health across the lifespan. Juliana has been a member of the IoPPN CEDI Committee since its inception and now provides CEDI leadership within the School of Mental Health and Psychological Sciences.

Dr Kelly Diederen - CEDI Academic Lead School of Academic Psychiatry

Kelly is a Senior Lecturer interested in the extent to which alterations in brain and behaviour are common across different psychiatric conditions and whether we can develop more precise disease markers for individual patients. Kelly has been an active member of the CEDI Committee since she joined the IoPPN and now provides CEDI leadership within the School of Academic Psychiatry.

Dr Franziska Denk - CEDI School Lead School of Neuroscience

Franziska is a Reader researching the peripheral nervous system and its involvement in chronic pain conditions. Franziska is passionate about data sharing and fostering open, reproducible and interdisciplinary science. She has been involved in a number of initiatives aimed at creating an inclusive research and training environment and now provides CEDI leadership within the School of Neuroscience.


IoPPN CEDI Committee

The IoPPN Culture, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Committee provide the strategic vision, expertise and framework to ensure an equitable, diverse and inclusive environment for all IoPPN staff, students and visitors. Applying an intersectional approach across all protected characteristics (age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex and sexual orientation), the CEDI Committee assess, address and challenge: 

  • Policies, processes and procedures 

  • Normative approaches, beliefs and practices 

  • All parts of the IoPPN (teaching, research, professional services) individually and wholistically 

The CEDI Committee has a diverse membership of academics, students, research and professional services staff with a representative from each academic/ student/ professional services department. Our membership includes expertise across all protected characteristics with experience •health inequalities, outreach, research, education, communication, recruitment, promotion and all levels of seniority.  

The group discusses, implements, promotes and monitors faculty-level objectives and strategies aimed at improving the environment for all staff and students. 

 

CEDI Goals

We are currently working towards introducing a new approach to delivering CEDI at the IoPPN including the introduction of four CEDI Goals that will be supported through time-limited Task and Finish Groups.
