Masterclass - 29 January 2026 - The Child in Spanish Cinema

The Child in Spanish Cinema' masterclass invites the audience to explore Spain’s recent history through the eyes of its cinema, focusing on the figure of the child as a revealing lens into the nation’s collective memory. From depictions of childhood during the aftermath of the Spanish Civil War to contemporary portrayals in recent films, the session examines how representations of children have reflected – and at times challenged – the historical, socio-political, and cultural realities beyond the screen, offering insight into the evolution of Spanish identity over time. Masterclass - 19 February 2026 - Imperial Arts of the Ming and Qing

From painting and ceramics to architecture and garden design, the masterclass 'Imperial Arts of the Ming and Qing' offers an overview of imperial Chinese art during the Ming and Qing dynasties, accompanied by an exploration of relevant Chinese language vocabulary oriented around historical events, artistic production, and philosophical concepts. Journeying through the rise and fall of two dynasties, we will consider how material culture responded to the shifting conditions of society, politics, and religion. We will also consider the interactions between Chinese and European artistic traditions through the export market and the Chinoiserie movement. The masterclass will be delivered in English. Masterclass - 10 March 2026 - The Woman Question for a Media - Mogul - Sex, Power and Scandal in 19th Century Russia

The Woman Question for a Media Mogul – Sex, Power, and Scandal in 19th Century Russia invites the audience to meet Alexei Suvorin, the Russian Rupert Murdoch of the 19th century and to explore how his newspapers shaped public opinion and how his entanglements with early feminists sparked scandal and debate, revealing the drama behind the "Woman Question" in Imperial Russia. The talk will be followed by a lively, hands-on introduction to Russian word formation, showing how meaning is built from prefixes, roots, and suffixes. The masterclass is open to anyone who studies languages, history, media or gender studies, anyone curious about Russian language and culture and anyone interested in history, media and social change. Course information

What you will receive

A tailored language learning plan designed specifically to your needs
Certificate of attendance
Access to the Language Resources Centre, including use of Pressreader (online access to 1000s of current news and culture publications in 50+ languages)
Free online speaking practice sessions; talk to a native speaker for free, once a week on a topic of your choosing to support your language learning (offered during term-time)
Support from a dedicated account manager to assist with any questions you may have

Course schedule and location

Courses can start at any time of the year and be of any duration (minimum 15 hours).
Teaching is primarily available from 8.00 to 20.00 Monday to Friday but please contact us for lessons outside of these hours or over the weekend.
Tuition can be delivered online, on any of the King's College London campuses or in-company.

Our teaching approach

We use the immersion method of language teaching. This means the majority of the course will be conducted in the language of study.
Our tutors use a communicative approach in class and will address the four communicative skills (speaking, reading, writing and listening) as standard.

KLC employs over 100 teaching staff who are native speakers of the language(s) they teach and have in-depth knowledge of language teaching methodology. Many of our teachers also have expertise in other areas such as journalism, politics, law, business, international affairs and the health sector.
