About

Our mission is to engage the King’s College London community and beyond in language learning and intercultural communication. We do this by providing high-quality language tuition, from individuals to institutions, through our evening and weekend short courses, private tuition and corporate training programmes.

Language courses in London and online

We offer evening and weekend courses in over 20 languages. Each language course is taught by a native speaker who’s been trained to deliver the immersive pedagogical approach and use the communicative method. This means they’ll get you speaking as much as possible in class to help speed up your acquisition of the language.

Learn a language in central London

Our language classes are taught in the heart of London at our Strand and Waterloo campuses. We also offer some courses online in our virtual classroom.

Choose the right language course for you

You can decide how you want to study your chosen language: standard classes involve one lesson each week and will take 10 weeks to complete each part, or 30 weeks to complete a level. Intensive classes are twice as long, held on an evening or the weekend, and will help you complete one part in 5 weeks or one level in 15 weeks.

You can start from the beginning with Level 1 or jump back in where you picked off if you’ve studied the language before. Before you decide, please read our guidance on which level you should study.

Ways to study a language

All students get access to our Language Resources Centre

To support your language-learning journey, you’ll get access to our resources centre, that’s bursting with assets for you to use. You can borrow textbooks, dictionaries, laptops and more, or bring your own device and use our WiFi to prepare for your next lesson. You can also book free speaking practice sessions and read local publications with complimentary Press Reader access.

Meet our language teachers

We work with over 100 native speakers who have been extensively trained to teach languages. They bring not just their personal experience of the country and culture but also expertise from a range of careers such as journalism, politics, business, international affairs and the health sector.

Each language teacher uses an immersive method of teaching, which means the lessons are primarily conducted in the language you’re learning. They also use a communicative approach to ensure you’re using all four key skills during their classes: listening, reading, speaking and writing. They’ll get you to do group and pair work according to a syllabus based on systematic grammatical progression.
