Professor Martin Williams, Assistant Air Quality Scientist in King’s Environmental Research Group, has spoken in his capacity as Chair of the Executive Body of United Nations Economic Commission for Europe’s Convention on Long-range Transboundary Air Pollution about legislation to combat air pollution.
Following last month’s official classification by the World Health Organisation (WHO) of outdoor air pollution as carcinogenic, Professor Williams told the Turkish news agency Cihan that ‘legislation is already in place and working to combat air pollution’.
He reported that ‘the UNECE air pollution convention has over 30 years successful track record in reducing emissions by anything up to 70 percent up to the last 30 years.’
