David Phillips, Professor of Environmental Carcinogenesis in the Genetic and Environmental Toxicology Group, Analytical & Environmental Sciences Division, has received the Fritz Sobels Award 2013. The award is conferred annually by the European Environmental Mutagen Society in recognition of outstanding achievements in the field of mutagens, a branch of genetics studying the origin of mutations and their consequences for health.
Professor Phillips was presented with the award at the Society’s 11th International Conference on Environmental Mutagens in Foz do Iguassu, Brazil, last week. His award lecture was entitled ‘DNA adducts: detection, characterisation, biological consequences (or: messing up DNA)’.
