Research & Impact
We would like to thank all students, staff and guests who participated in the 2015 Analytical & Environmental Sciences Division Postgraduate Research Symposium held on 14th May 2015.
The symposium format included poster presentations from our 1st and 2nd year graduate students and oral presentations from our final (3rd or 4th) year students. This year we were also pleased to have a guest lecture by Professor Debbie Jarvis, Professor of Public Health at the National Health and Lung Institute. The symposium provided an opportunity for the students to improve their presentation skills, allowed discussion between students and staff resulting in direct feedback, and helped identify possible gaps in understanding as final year students prepare for the oral examination of their thesis.
Following an assessment of the presentations by a panel of judges drawn from our academic and research staff, Max Priestman won the prize for best presentation and the prize for the best poster was awarded to James Gooch. This year we were also pleased to include the Metrohm Academic Excellence Award which was awarded to Elizabeth Gilchrist by Richard Okeowo of Metrohm UK Ltd.
