Accessing King's Careers and Employability
Access to King's Careers and Employability is for current students and recent graduates. However, there are some suggestions for where to get help as a prospective student in our pages on applying to HE and careers advice for school or adult applicants.
If you come to King's to study, King's Careers and Employability is here to support you right from the start of your course. We can help you in the following ways.
Choosing a career direction
You don't need to have ideas on your future to make use of King's Careers and Employability as soon as you arrive at King's.
It is never too early to start thinking about which career you will follow after graduating. We can help you generate a range of options, review these, and make a plan to move into your chosen field. We don't just deal with well known types of work in sectors that recruit many graduates: we'll help you choose to be an accountant or a zookeeper, a doctor or a tree surgeon.
If you do have a direction in mind, come and talk about it and we'll help you work out the best way to get there.
As well as having individual discussions with our advisers you can use our extensive careers library and online resources to research your career and keep up with the latest news through our thematic Facebook pages and Twitter account.
Come along to our series of diverse events where you can engage with potential employers in fairs, presentations, skills workshops and more. You'll gain valuable insight into a wide range of careers and pick up tips on how to break into them.
Making the most of your time at King's
Getting the job of your choice means doing a lot more than simply passing your degree. Employers look for rounded individuals with a range of skills and attitudes. So come and talk to us about how to use your time at King's to increase your employability. We'll tell you about

Making successful applications for work or further study
Once you know what jobs you wish to apply for you can make use of our handouts, workshops and individual advice sessions to refine you CV and cover letter or application forms. We'll teach you to present your skills and experience effectively with careful targeting to the specific job and organisation that interests you.
Going for interviews and assessment centres
For most graduate jobs you can expect a rigorous selection process involving a mix of aptitude tests, interviews, and assessment centre exercises such as group work or presenations. Thorough preparation for these is essential and we can help. We have numerous resources online and in our careers library, we run workshops on interview technique and can offer practice interviews.
The Careers Group
As part of The Careers Group, University of London, King's Careers and Employability can offer you access to a range of additional fairs, careers courses and internet based resources.
