Reward & Recognition

At King’s Academy, we believe that recognising and rewarding excellence in education is fundamental to fostering a thriving academic community.

Outstanding teaching, impactful educational leadership and innovative scholarship shape the student experience and contribute to the University's broader mission. Through these opportunities, we celebrate the contributions of educators at all levels. We provide recognition for colleagues in the form of awards and accreditiations, including:

King’s Professional Recognition in Teaching and Learning

This programme offers King’s staff who are involved in teaching and learning the opportunity to apply for Advance HE fellowships. These fellowships fall into four categories:

  • Associate Fellow
  • Fellow
  • Senior Fellow
  • Principal Fellow.

Each fellowship is an internationally recognised badge of professional success.

We support all colleagues with their applications through precise written guidance and a series of self-paced and live activities.

King's Education Awards

The annual King's Education Awards celebrates members of staff who have made a real difference to students at King’s.

In 2024, we received over 1,000 nominations from students, from which faculty and student panels selected 6 winners across 6 categories.

2025 marks 22 years for the King's Education Awards and since creation, faculties and the student panel have selected over 200 winners from thousands of nominations!

National Teaching Fellowship Scheme

The National Teaching Fellowships (NTFs) are a UK-wide scheme to recognise, reward and celebrate individuals who have made an outstanding impact on students’ outcomes and the teaching profession.

Individual institutions are limited to three submissions each year and from these, no more than 55 Higher Education professionals receive this award annually.

Individuals can be in any role that contributes to the enhancement of students’ outcomes and the teaching profession.

King’s Academy facilitates the NTF submission process for King’s colleagues. Since the scheme was established in 2000, a number of King’s colleagues have received an NTF award:
