Chaplaincy Assistants

Chaplaincy Assistants are usually considering a vocation to ordained ministry and spend a year with us as part of the discernment process.  They work alongside the Chaplains and are responsible for many of the day to day practical tasks in the Chaplaincies across all of the King's campuses.

Our Chaplaincy Assistants for 2023-24 are Carol Jiang & Mia Hadfield-Spoor. Contact the Chaplaincy Assistants via email.

Carol Jiang

Carol JiangCarol finished her MSc in Mental Health Studies at King’s in 2023. In her time here, she found community and places of quiet and reflection through the Denmark Hill Chaplaincy, and this year she wants to do her tiny part in giving back to the people and places that have nurtured her. She is passionate about lived-experience-led mental health research, non-medical narratives of mental health, and creative approaches to well-being. She has also been exploring her faith and the intersections between faith and social justice. In her free time, she can be found sewing/drawing/journaling in her local library or walking around the streets of London with a podcast and a hot drink.

Mia Hadfield-Spoor

Mia Hadfield-Spoor 2Mia has been a student at King's since 2018, where she attained an MSc in Medicine, Health and Public Policy, and is currently completing a PhD researching food (in)security among Disabled people in the UK. The Chaplaincy has been a huge blessing for Mia's student experience at King's, and in her faith journey, and she is overjoyed to be working with the Chaplaincy this year while discerning the vocation that God is calling her to.  She previously studied history and has a long-term interest in social and environmental justice. She enjoys walking outdoors/being in the countryside, cooking and baking, singing and dancing.
