Work experience

The Department of Chemistry offers a limited number of two day work experience placements throughout the month of July. This opportunity is aimed at students in years 7 - 11 who want to gain experience of working in a research environment. Priority will be given to those in years 10 and 11, so please consider applying again in the future if you are unsuccessful.

Applications for our Work Experience Program have now closed.  We are currently in the evaluation phase and will update applicants soon.

How to apply

Please note:

- Students who attend fee-paying schools are ineligible

- Preference will be given to students who have not yet undertaken a lab based work experience or summer school

- Applications are open to students from all geographical areas, not just those within London

- You must be available for both days of the Work Experience

- Applications will be dealt with a 'first come, first served' basis, which means applications may close early if all places are filled. There will be places available on a waiting list.

Chemistry Summer School

'I am really delighted that you let me have an experience of a lifetime. I learnt many things as the days went by and met many doctors and professors who all told me their backstory, what they did for A levels, and which university they went to...I really want to do this work experience again and would be delighted to do another one at King's College London when I reach Year 10.'

Qasim

The work experience helped me greatly as I know now that I definitely want to study Chemistry at university. I really enjoyed my time at King's, the ability to work in a really positive atmosphere and having the chance to meet and talk to new and amazing people. I only wish the work experience was longer!'
