Adult safeguarding

A 2023 scoping study led by Helen Chester focuses on predicting and detecting abuse in registered care homes and supported living. Two recently completed projects at the Unit (led by Jess Harris and by Nicole Steils) focus on self-neglect – classified as an adult safeguarding concern under the Care Act 2014. Subsequent work focuses on decluttering (Jen Owen) and training for those who support people with hoarding behaviours (Nicole Steils). Earlier there were analyses of Safeguarding Adults Reviews led by Caroline Green (mental health social care) and Stephen Martineau (homelessness). We also highlight selected other work on adult safeguarding undertaken by topic experts Jill Manthorpe, the late Martin Stevens, and Caroline Norrie.
