Master of Laws (LLM)

Our LLM is a respected academic qualification that is recognised throughout the world and across key legal disciplines. We emphasise innovative and problem-solving teaching methods as well as a comparative and international outlook in our teaching. The on-campus LLM offers a choice of nine specialist pathways or a general LLM qualification.

We also offer LLMs that are entirely delivered online, giving students access to King's expertise from anywhere in the world.

Law & Professional Practice MSc / Postgraduate Diploma

The MSc Law & Professional Practice is a two-year postgraduate degree, with the first year available as a stand-alone Postgraduate Diploma. It provides a comprehensive and rigorous introduction to law and practice in preparation for the SQE and a legal career as a solicitor or barrister in an evolving and competitive sector.

The programme is open to graduates obtaining a higher 2:1 degree classification or above who have not undertaken, nor are currently undertaking, legal education or training which substantially comprises the study of, and/or practice in, the laws of England and Wales.

Specialist diplomas and master's courses

Our Centres deliver specialist postgraduate courses that are highly regarded in their respective disciplines. Many of these courses offer part-time and flexible delivery to allow professionals to study alongside their careers.

The Centre of Medical Law & Ethics delivers two master’s courses:

  • The MA Medical Ethics and Law examines in-depth the legal and ethical questions raised by medical practice and science. Designed for medical or legal professionals, graduates of a relevant discipline and those embarking on further research in this area.
  • Our Mental Health, Ethics and Law MSc course provides an integrated, strongly interdisciplinary, education in mental health, ethics and law. It equips graduates to become leaders in healthcare, mental health law or policy.

The Centre of Construction Law & Dispute Resolution provides an MSc Construction Law & Dispute Resolution designed for practising lawyers, engineers, architects, surveyors and other construction professionals.

The Centre of European Law offers postgraduate diploma programmes in a blended learning format (distance learning with face-to-face weekend seminars). These can be followed with a second year where a 60 credit dissertation is written under supervision to gain an MA.
