She then moved to The Scripps Research Institute California for her postdoctoral studies to work with Dennis Burton where she worked on aspects of HIV glycobiology and HIV broadly neutralising antibodies. In June 2013, Katie was awarded an MRC Career Development Award and moved to King’s College London to start her research lab. In 2017 Katie was selected as a member of the EMBO Young Investigator Programme.

Katie’s research lab is interested in the roles of carbohydrates in host-pathogen interactions and applying this to the development of carbohydrate-based vaccines and therapeutics.
