Our courses

The study of mathematics has never been more important or more highly valued than it is today. Whether at undergraduate or postgraduate level, mathematics covers a huge spectrum of fascinating topics and addresses fundamental questions about existence, the universe, both natural and man-made constructs and behaviours within it. Mathematics at King’s is also a pioneering subject, with our research delivering new ways of looking at familiar issues and new tools to solve complex problems.

Studying mathematics at King’s will put you in one of the leading centres of mathematical teaching and research, working with and learning from some of the foremost mathematical minds in the world. The Department is ranked fourth among mathematical sciences units in the UK for the quality of its research outputs, with 31% of its work judged to be world-leading (4*) and 56% to be internationally excellent (3*) in the 2014 Research Excellence Framework (REF).

At undergraduate level, our courses offer a wide range of required and optional modules in both pure and applied mathematics, allowing you to pursue a study pathway that reflects your own areas of interest. You can also choose to combine mathematics with a range of related fields, including computer science, physics or finance, or to take a more existential route and combine mathematics with philosophy.
