Research & expertise

What does it take to make a tooth regrow? Can we restore hearing loss? How can we prevent cavities worldwide?

To answer these complex questions, our researchers need to collaborate. We combine expertise across King’s, join forces with other institutions and create connections with industry.

Together, we can make the world a better place. But only if our research is relevant beyond the lab. Our research groups are working towards delivering real impact in treatments and therapies. Through basic science and clinical research, we’re exploring three broad areas:

  • Development, regeneration, repair and tissue engineering
  • Immunity, infection and host microbiome interactions
  • Clinical, translational and population health

What really matters is what happens to our research once it leaves the academic world. Someone in a translational area might take a basic discovery and move it on a bit further. Then someone in a clinical environment might use it to design a new treatment.
