Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

The School of Education, Communication & Society places equity and social justice at the heart of its identity. Our Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) team often have a deep-seated personal investment in better understanding social inequities and working towards more inclusive practice. These principles shape our research, teaching, and community initiatives, and are embedded in the School strategy for 2025–29 and King’s broader 2029 strategy.

  • The School values the diversity of its staff and students, seeing it as a source of strength that enriches learning, research, and collaboration.
  • The EDI Committee are committed to creating an inclusive, supportive environment and take responsibility for addressing challenges openly and constructively.
  • Many staff members bring professional experience from fields such as teaching, social work and youth work, giving the School a strong grounding in practical approaches to equity, inclusion and social justice.
  • This practical expertise informs both academic work and contributions to wider policy and public conversations about social justice.
  • The School continues to work toward equity and inclusion in both recruitment and the lived experiences of students and staff.
