About King's Legal Clinic

Welcome to King’s Legal Clinic, a free to use advice-only legal service based in The Dickson Poon School of Law on the Strand Campus. We provide free legal advice to members of the public and staff and students at King’s.

Our King's Legal Clinic offers general advice on a range of issues which could include the following types of things:

  • Whether you can terminate a tenancy agreement early;
  • how you might enforce the terms of a will; and
  • what becoming a trustee for a charity might involve.

The Clinic also offers legal advice in a range of specialist areas and works with leading law firms to run clinics focused on:

Our law students work under the supervision of qualified lawyers, interviewing clients, analysing their legal problems and researching the issues involved in their client’s case. Clients are then sent a written letter of advice, normally within two weeks of the initial interview.

Benefits for King’s students

Students gain valuable pro bono work experience and a range of transferable skills through participation in the clinic. They develop their skills in legal writing and drafting, hone their interview skills and carry out real-life legal research. Current students can find out more about how to get involved in the Clinic on our student webpage here.

Benefits for clients

Clients benefit from a free legal advice service – and because all our students are supervised by qualified lawyers they can be sure of the quality of the advice they receive.
