What we do

The Division of Methodologies brings together a diverse range of research approaches to explore and improve health and social care. The division's work spans sociological and anthropological studies, discourse and conversation analysis and health communication, alongside innovative uses of narrative enquiry such as the Voice-Centred Relational Method.

Researchers collaborate on co‑designing healthcare interventions and the co-production of health and social care outcomes, conducting historical studies of healthcare practices, advancing policy studies and implementation science, and addressing pressing issues through health inequalities research.

The division also hosts statisticians and epidemiologists who support researchers across the Faculty in the design, analysis and reporting of feasibility studies and randomised controlled trials of complex interventions. We work collaboratively to understand and transform healthcare.

Research groups

This research group is developing a programme of high-quality research to improve the delivery, outcomes and experiences of maternity care services, centring childbearing women, people and their families. Staff in the group work across faculties at King's, encompassing a wide range of professional specialisms from midwifery to mental health.
