Global education, research and partnerships

Through our global network of staff, students and partner organisations we improve health and care systems worldwide.

By building long-term international partnerships we also strengthen education, workforce capability and research across the globe.

International education

International students

We’re home to a globally diverse student body who bring together international perspectives. These perspectives are critical to addressing the changes and challenges in global healthcare.

Our nursing, midwifery and palliative care programmes across pre-registration, post-qualification and postgraduate research offer exposure to global networks. Our alumni work in health and care roles across the world.

Elective placements abroad for aspiring nurses and midwives

Elective placements are an opportunity for our pre-registration nursing and midwifery students to choose where they undertake a part of their practice learning during their studies with us.

During an elective placement abroad, students learn about nursing and midwifery in a different social, cultural and/or organisational environment. International electives also offer our students a chance to pursue specialist interests within an area of practice.

Thanks to our connections, our pre-registration students get a comprehensive clinical education and the chance to work on placements in health and care all over the world.

"I thoroughly enjoyed my time on the research elective. It gave me a great opportunity to see what midwifery research can look like. We spent our time meeting members of the Faculty who shared their story of how they got into the world of research, explained their area of research to us, discussed applying for funding as well as giving us advice and top tips for becoming a researcher. It was lovely to have an insight into the field and see the different stages of a research project."

Anika Badiani, BSc Midwifery student

This programme has significantly boosted my confidence. It’s empowered me to challenge conventional thinking, explore new ideas and approach clinical dilemmas with greater depth and assurance.

"Firstly, King's College London is world-renowned for its nursing courses, which meant I would receive first-class training and support. Secondly, I was excited about the opportunity to move from studying in China to the UK. It was a great way to broaden my horizons and learn from a global perspective."
