Courses

Undergraduate study involves students directly in the intellectual life of the Department. Students will work closely with academic staff and a heavy emphasis is placed on informality and student support, with each undergraduate appointed a personal tutor to oversee their work.

The demanding programme of study is supplemented by regular departmental events and guest speakers, and the Department works closely with several student-run societies.

One of the features of the undergraduate programmes is the broad range of optional modules available after the first year. While the early stages of study provide students with a thorough grounding in the core skills needed to undertake advanced study in political economy, the second and third years allow students to shape their degree according to their interests through extended coursework, self-directed study and option module choices.
