Prostate Cancer Masterclass
Hosted by Prostate Cancer UK and King's College London
25th & 26th March 2013
Glaziers Hall, 9 Montague Close, London Bridge, SE1 9DD
The third Prostate Cancer Masterclass will be held on the 25th and 26th March, 2013. The focus of this flagship two-day event will be on innovation and service improvement.
Hosted jointly by Prostate Cancer UK and the Florence Nightingale School of Nursing & Midwifery at King's College London, the Prostate Cancer Masterclass is designed for practitioners who care for men with prostate cancer in primary and secondary care settings and who have a specialist interest in this area.
Prostate cancer is a complex and multi-faceted disease to manage, primarily because the patient has to face a barrage of choices and dilemmas with screening, treatment and side effects impacting on quality of life. The Masterclass will discuss these issues and bring professionals together to network and share best practice.
Lunch and refreshments will be provided.
Programme - Please note, this is a provisional programme and may be subject to changes.
Day 1 – Innovation in Practice
A range of high quality speakers will address innovative methods of improving patient care throughout the patient’s pathway from diagnosis, through treatment and management of the disease. Day 1 is designed for professionals working with men and their families who have prostate cancer in all care settings.
Day 2 – Improving services
A choice of one of three workshop streams will encourage participants to put their ideas for service improvement into practice. Specialists will hold small focus groups on improving links between primary and secondary care, providing sex and relationship support, or addressing the needs of high risk and high impact groups. These workshops will be complemented by leading experts giving their tips for improving service provision in the NHS today. Day 2 is designed for practitioners practicing or working towards practicing at an advanced level
