Module selection
Module catalogues for 2022/23 can be viewed by clicking on the links at the bottom of the page.
The 2023/24 catalogue will be released in mid-April, offer holders will be sent all the relevant guidance and instructions closer to the time.
Please pay particular attention to departments with restrictions at the bottom of this page.
If your major is not offered at King's (refer to our current catalogue for an indication of the modules we usually offer), you may struggle to find relevant modules so please read these pages carefully.
Offer holders will be sent detailed instructions on how to complete their Module Request Form once the registration opening date is announced.
Please view our general module registration guidance for information on how the process works.
A Word template that will help you prepare can be found at the bottom of this page, but it is for your personal reference only. We only accept module requests via our online form.
It is important to note the following when completing your Module Request Form:
• Levels 4, 5 and 6 are for Undergraduate students and Level 7 is for Postgraduate Taught students (i.e. Masters). Undergraduate students cannot take Level 7 modules, and Postgraduate students cannot take Levels 4, 5 or 6.
• Important to note: Only modules that are listed in the Study Abroad online module catalogues (General and Bioscience, see links at the bottom of the page) are open to Study Abroad students. Not all modules at King's College London can be taken by Study Abroad students. Please only select modules found in our catalogues
• Places on modules are not guaranteed for any student due to class size restrictions and are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. We do not have waiting lists
• All modules taken at King's will be awarded a grade on your final transcript, and therefore cannot be taken as attendance-only or Pass/Fail, even if this is permitted by your home institution. You will not be awarded an overall degree classification/award from King’s as credits are transferred to your home degree
• You must review our Eligibility Criteria tab and the module registration guidance before looking through the module catalogues and choosing your modules. Our eligibility criteria are strict and it is your responsibility to ensure you meet the criteria before submitting your module choices
• Please pay careful attention to the assessments outlined in the module descriptions. Semester 1-only students are expected to sit in-person exams that take place in December, or any online exams that take place in our January assessment period although you are not required to physically be in London for the online exams. If you are assessed by coursework only, deadlines may be set for January. Alternative assessments will only be set for semester 1-only students in lieu of in-person exams in January.
Full year students are expected to sit in-person exams scheduled for both our January and May/June assessment periods -- no special arrangements will be made if you choose to leave London before the programme ends
• For those students nominated under a specific departmental exchange agreement, you will be required to take at least 50% of your credits in that department. You may be nominated under a different department to your major, please check with your home university if you are unsure. We will also remind you of your nominated department closer to the opening of module registration.
• The table below lists which departments undergraduate students can request from depending on your nominated department. It also indicates other departments that may offer related modules (although these will not count towards the 50% threshold of modules you must take from your nominated department).
Postgraduate students do not have the same flexibility and should request at least 50% of modules from the specific nominated department only.
If your exchange department is not listed (for example, Law or Theology and Religious Studies) then you are unlikely to find related modules outside of that department.
• Fee-Paying students and those nominated under College-wide exchanges can use the table to find departments that offer modules related to their major/subject of interest
