Module description

This is an intensive module aiming to give to those with little or no previous experience of Attic Greek a solid understanding of the basic grammar, syntax, and vocabulary of the language. By the end of the year you should be able to read easy passages of Greek unseen without assistance and hence gain a deeper understanding of Ancient Greek texts in their original form.

You will be expected to attend all classes. Preparation and consolidation in your own time is essential, and time spent learning grammar and vocabulary is just as important as completing written exercises. As an approximate guide, students on this course should expect to spend at least 6-8 hours a week in private study and preparation, in addition to the scheduled class hours: preparing extensively for each class; memorising vocabulary and grammar; doing exercises on paper and online, as directed.
