Module description

This module gives an introduction to the Catalan language. It also explores Catalan art and architecture (figures such as Miró and Gaudí), music and literature, through the medium of language study.

Assessment details

1 x 15 min oral presentation (25%); 4 x class tests (25%); 1 x 2 hour exam (50%)

Educational aims & objectives

The module aims to provide a wide range of interactive linguistic exercises and activities to improve students' Catalan reading, writing and listening skills and cultural awareness, which will allow them to communicate more comfortably in Barcelona or any other Catalan-speaking region should they decide to spend their Year Abroad there.

Learning outcomes

To enhance students’ knowledge of Catalan language and culture through a wide range of interactive exercises and activities to reach an A2 Catalan level considering CEFR.
