Module description
What is the module about?
The module aims to give students a sound basic understanding of the principles of individual employment law, together with an insight into the extent to which the law recognises the essentially “social” nature of the employment relationship. This will include an understanding of the growing influence of both human rights and, most crucially, European Union law on the domestic framework of employment.
On completion of the module, students should be able to:
Who should do this module?
This module is available to students in the Business School. It develops critical skills, problem solving and communication skills. The operation of employment law is very important – whether you run your own business, are employed in one or are intending to work in human resource management.

Assessment focussed workshops will also take place in week 3, 5, 8 and 10 (1 hour sessions)
Assessment details
75% Examination
25% Coursework
The format of the examination has not yet been confirmed. All students will be expected to sit any remote exams in January, but semester 1 only students will be set an alternative assessment or sit the exam remotely in lieu of any in-person exams.
