Module description
What is the module about?
This course is concerned with understanding in depth and applying in practice some models and concepts for building a firm's "competitive strategy" and “corporate strategy”. To survive and prosper firms must be able to create and sustain competitive advantage over a significant period of time. This course equips you with the frameworks, analytical tools, and concepts that you need to complement your own intuition and skills in making sense of the organisational and environmental complexity and in identifying the sources of sustained superior performances.
Who should do this module?
It is predominantly for students that have technical knowledge but who are interested in complementing their technical knowledge with strategic know-how. The course helps students sharpen their abilities to join in discussions about firm strategy and its strategic direction; improve their abilities to think strategically and to diagnose situations from a strategic perspective; to gain an understanding of how their functional specialties help a firm achieve and support a competitive advantage and firm success; and further develop their skills at communicating their ideas clearly and simply.
