Module description

This module will be a sustained engagement with the question how we acquire on the basis of perception a belief in the continued existence unperceived of the ordinary physical objects that we perceive. This also raises fundamental questions about the relation between the metaphysics, phenomenology, and epistemology of perception.

Educational aims & objectives

Students will acquire:

  • an advanced understanding of one or more central problems concerning Philosophy of Mind
  • an understanding of the central claims, arguments and solutions to be found in contemporary discussions of these topics
