Module description
What is the module about?
This second-year course provides students with a theoretical and practical understanding of entrepreneurship. Accordingly, the main goal of this course is to provide students with a broad picture of entrepreneurship means, with a special focus on the process of new venture creation and growth.
Also, the module is targeted at providing students with a solid conceptual and empirical understanding of entrepreneurship literature and new venture growth. Therefore, students will develop a critical view for the phenomenon, theoretical frameworks, methodologies, and real business cases within the field.
The module will combine theory-based lectures and practice-based tutorials. In the lectures, theories and cases will be presented. Furthermore, guest speakers will take part in some of the lectures as well. In the tutorials, students in groups (randomly assigned) will develop a business project to ultimately pitch it to a panel of investors composed of entrepreneurs from the King’s Entrepreneurship Institute who will provide additional feedback to students’ business projects.
Who should do this module?
This module is available to students in KBS and Joint Honours who are seeking to understand entrepreneurship from both theoretical and practical perspectives. The course will also be useful if you are thinking of taking more entrepreneurship-related modules in the future. This is a module that aims at raising awareness about the importance of entrepreneurship not only for start-up commercial purposes but also to stimulate the entrepreneurial mindset for further professional endeavours.
